Professor Allwood speaks at Royal Academy of Engineering plenary on decarbonisation

Professor Julian Allwood was invited to speak on a panel on decarbonisation at the National Engineering Policy Centre’s bi-annual plenary, held on 30 January 2020 at the Royal Academy of Engineering, Prince Philip House, 3 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5DG.

This included speaking slot presenting our recent report Absolute Zero, which has been received with great interest within our policy team at the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The theme of the panel session explored how different disciplines approach decarbonisation as a problem, with panellists representing engineering, social and behavioural sciences, and socio-political analysis. This opened into a stimulating discussion across the engineering sectors represented at the plenary.

The National Engineering Policy Centre, established at the start of this year, is a collaborative enterprise bringing together the UK’s professional engineering institutions, representing over 450,000 engineers from right across the profession. It strengthens the engagement between policymakers and engineers through events, offers policy advice with a strong practitioner focus, and links policymakers to leaders in the worlds of industry, technology, research, innovation and skills.
