Wenbin holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London. He has developed a novel energy-efficient and flexible manufacturing process, differential velocity sideways extrusion (DVSE), for forming lightweight curved extrusion profiles/sections. This technology is now known as Flextrude®, which has been patented worldwide. He is responsible for the technical development of Flextrude®, and is a co-founder of CurvEx Technology Ltd, a newly formed Imperial College Spin-Off for commercialising Flextrude®. Wenbin’s research interests include metal forming and materials modelling, manufacturing, solid/computational mechanics, and mechanics of materials, with a current focus on the development of lightweighting materials and manufacture techniques for the transport industry.
