Jiaxin holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London. She has developed a novel energy-efficient manufacturing process called multi-container extrusion (MSE). This technology allows the formation of wide profiles/sections through ‘extrusion+welding’ in a single operation, resulting in a significant reduction in energy requirements, up to 85%, when compared to the current conventional extrusion process. Jiaxin’s research interests encompass metal forming and materials modelling, manufacturing, solid/computational mechanics, and mechanics of materials, with a current focus on the development of lightweighting materials and manufacturing techniques for the transport industry.
