In November 2019, UK FIRES published ‘Absolute Zero’ which anticipates zero emissions across all sectors using today’s technologies. The report has had rapid high-level impact in UK policy and industry and was debated in the House of Lords in February. This workshop will explore how UK businesses can plan the strategic innovations compatible with the legally binding constraint of zero emissions in 30 years.
The strategy workshop, led by Teppo Felin , Professor of Corporate Strategy at Oxford’s Saïd Business School, will reveal the key elements of zero-emission innovation strategies in five key sectors:
- Construction
- Transportation Systems
- Materials and Manufacturing
- Energy Systems
- Food & Drink
These strategies will be set into context by Hamish Low, Professor of Economics at the University of Oxford, to identify the policy opportunities available to leverage the required innovation pathways.
