Hannes Gauch’s is a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. His research focusses on climate change mitigation in the construction and operation of buildings. He is investigating the reduction potential of emissions and energy use through building design, control, and retrofit strategies. More generally, Hannes is interested in how human needs can be satisfied while respecting planetary boundaries. He has contributed to the development of a software tool for carbon- and cost-efficient design of multi-storey buildings.
Hannes joined the University of Cambridge in 2019. Previously he graduated with an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, before obtaining a PhD at Imperial College London in Aeronautical Engineering.G
